ACAI BERRY (EUTERPE OLERACEA)

The Açaí berry grows as a wild plant on top of many native palm trees in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil.
The fruit is a small, round, black-purple berry about 1 inch (25mm) in diameter. It is similar in appearance and size to a grape but contains less pulp. Two crops of fruit are produced each year (July to December).

The Açaí berry is known for its deep purple color as well as for being a rich source of many antioxidants, omegas and vitamins. It is considered to be a Superfruit, a category among functional foods, for its high nutrient content.

TASTE

Açaí is reminiscent of a blueberry, with a stronger aroma and a subtle chocolate after taste.
